Oshyn's Take on the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant for DXPs
Jan 30, 2025
The digital experience platform (DXP) landscape is constantly evolving, and Gartner's latest Magic Quadrant for Digital Experience Platforms offers a fascinating snapshot of the current market.
This year's quadrant reveals some interesting shifts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the DXP space.
What's particularly exciting for us at Oshyn is that the top three DXPs highlighted in this year's Magic Quadrant – Optimizely, Adobe, and Sitecore – are precisely the platforms we specialize in.
One of the most notable developments is Optimizely's ascent to the top, taking the crown as the undisputed Leader. Kudos to Optimizely for achieving this recognition! Their Optimizely One DXP has experienced remarkable growth in a short period, a testament to their vision and execution. Gartner credits its modularity, pricing, and packaging for its high marks while pointing out that non-marketing buyers (e.g. B2B sales and digital commerce) may not be as well served. While the relative newness of their SaaS CMS might be a consideration for some, we anticipate growing trust in the platform as it matures.
Even with Optimizely's rise, Adobe remains a powerful force in the DXP arena. They continue to be a Leader, offering reliability and cutting-edge innovation – crucial factors for any organization evaluating DXP solutions. Adobe's strong brand and comprehensive suite of tools ensure they remain a top contender. Gartner’s analysts point out Adobe’s strength with sophisticated marketers along with strong partner support. Its complexity and high cost are caveats.
Sitecore, while positioned in the Visionaries quadrant this year, is still a major player and a long-standing leader in the DXP space. With a substantial customer base and arguably the most mature and robust SaaS CMS offering in XM Cloud, Sitecore's position reflects their established presence and continued innovation. Gartner calls out the effort required to transition to Sitecore XM Cloud along with higher costs, but points to its innovation, its composable vision, and strength in B2B. We at Oshyn believe they have the potential to regain their Leader status in future Gartner reports.
Beyond the those three, it’s exciting to the composable-first like Contentful, Contentstack, Uniform Systems, and Builder.io make an appearance in the Magic Quadrant. Last year, we noted the absence of these players, and we're thrilled to see Gartner acknowledge the growing importance of composable architectures in the DXP landscape. This shift validates the increasing demand for flexible, API-driven solutions, and it's a trend we've been championing at Oshyn for some time.
A big congratulations to all the vendors recognized, and especially to our partners who continue to shine!
